04 Ott Treviso, city of art and water: the Greenway down the Sile river
Holiday code: WTV
A weekend in and out of the Treviso walls to discover the fascinating city center, cycling down the Sile. Bridges, galleries, natural landscapes, and the inimitable prosecco.
A fun and exhilarating weekend awaits, for those who love to walk and cycle facing the river, history, natural beauties, and culture. Cycle down the Marca Greenway and discover the squares and riverside wonders of this charming town, along with typical Treviso delicacies.
PROGRAM
First day: late afternoon arrival in the B&B Hotel Treviso, located in the historic town center, 300 meters from the Duomo and its main squares. After a meeting with the guide and dinner in one of the most beloved osterie of Treviso, we spend some time getting to know the group.
Second day: following breakfast, we hop on our bikes and cycle down part of the Regional Natural Park of the Sile River Greenway, an ecological corridor aimed at slow mobility (cycling, walking, and boating). We leave from the southern part of the town walls to arrive in the ancient “Cimitero dei Burci”, where many ancient goods boats are stored. We then head to Casier where we have a short break. In the Trattoria al Sile, we have the chance to taste some typical products while admiring the river. The cycleway will then take us to Casale sul Sile, where we can enjoy the natural landscape. Back in town, we have dinner in one of the oldest osterie of Treviso, where we can also have a nice glass of prosecco to wrap up the day. Distance: approx. 40-45 km
Third day: after breakfast, we cycle around the Treviso walls for a ring tour of the town. In the morning we can admire the canals, bridges, squares, and churches of the city center: we will go through Piazza Duomo, Piazza dei Signori, Palazzo del Trecento, Loggia dei Cavalieri, and Fontana delle Tette. The fountain is Treviso’s symbol and reflects the Serenissima Venice Republic’s era when it used to spill red or white wine for particular occasions. Back to the hotel, we say goodbye to our group and the beautiful Treviso – you already know you will be back! Distance: approx. 20 km
Important: program may vary based on weather conditions.
